The idea of the running sinker rig is to enable fussy fish to take a bait and swim away without feeling any resistance from the angler or fishing outfit. Cast or drop the baited rig into the desired location and hold the rod as vertically as possible, once a bite is detected drop the rod tip and this will allow the fish some free line to take the bait down freely before moving off. If the fish is not moving away with the bait try slowly lifting the rod until you can feel the fish, remember to let the fish get the bait down before striking.
